Hewn Modern Wood Sconce Collection

The Hewn sconce is carved from solid hardwood salvaged from wind-downed Vancouver street trees. Each Hewn light bears the evidence of its making expressed through texture and tool marks that emphasize the beauty of the hardwood.

Hewn sconces are one-of-a-kind and imbued with the spirit of the tree that they were salvaged from. Knots, small cracks, variations in grain and colour combine with an aesthetic that values the imperfect and gestural surface to form the unique aspect of each Hewn sconce.

This modern wood sconce is backlit with a halo of light that illuminates the surrounding wall with a warm glow, making the Hewn a natural choice to light any space including hallways, bedrooms and entryways.

Over the past few years we have warehoused a bounty of beautiful hardwood – ash, maple, alder, mimosa and oak – harvested from downed Vancouver street trees.
