Last week I spent the better part of my days in the wood-shop building a Mycologic light for a client’s home here in Vancouver. This light involves a good deal of intricate wood work which makes it challenging and satisfying to build. Black walnut is, for certain, my favourite wood to work with. Walnut is hard yet yields beautifully to sharp tools. It makes the shop smell so good, particularly when it’s scent mixes with the linseed oil and beeswax that we use to finish the wood.
